Week 1

Introduction to Technical Writing

Introduction to Technical Writing: Understand the concepts, scope and real-world applications in technical writing.
Writing for Different Audiences: Learn how to identify your audience such as Developers, end-users, stakeholders and using the right terminology.
Structuring Technical Writing: Learn the best practices for organizing technical documents and structuring contents.

Week 2

Writing Essentials and Documentation Types

Clarity, Simplicity, and Style in Technical Writing: You will learn how to simplify technical jargon without sacrificing accuracy, writing in an active voice, using concise sentences and avoiding redundancy.
Writing Product Manuals & User Guides: You will learn how to create user-centered documentation, step-by-step instructions, prerequisites, and troubleshooting sections. Explore the formatting guides for readability and clarity.
API Documentation: Learn how to structure API documentation and the tools used for API documentation.

Week 3

Visuals, Collaboration, and Self-Editing

Visual Elements in Technical Writing: Learn how to to add visual elements like diagrams, tables and flowcharts into a technical document and how they can enhance comprehension.
Reviewing, Editing, and Refining Technical Documents: Learn self-editing techniques, peer reviews and the tools for version control and collaboration (GitHub, Conference).
Advanced Writing Techniques: Master the tone and style for different document types, writing FAQs, structuring long-form content and managing multiple.

Week 4

Capstone Project and Final Assessment

Capstone Project Planning: Choose a product (hardware, software, or service) for documentation. Work on the project structure like Audience analysis, technical descriptions, step-by-step guides, and visuals. You will also get to set up a group or individual project.
Group Peer Review and Feedback: Peer reviews on the capstone projects with feedback and revisions.
Capstone Project Submission and Presentation: There will be final reviews and presentation of the capstone projects.
